I've grabbed the following pictures to remind us of the horror of the day. I think it is important for us to remember our feelings and responses to the tragedy. One of the most striking is the side-by-side satellite image of the before and after.
Here we are, now in 2006, years after the event and I certainly don't feel safer. George W. Bush has taken us to war with Iraq which has little to nothing to do with 9/11. 2,800+ of our soldiers have died trying to effect radical change in one of the most explosive regions of the world under Neocon leadership, and we are slowing losing. We have sacrificed more of men and women in arms than the people who died in the attacks on 9/11, let alone the unknown 10,000s of civilians and innocents who have died in the Iraq war. Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose and most intelligence services agree that Al Qaeda is now running rampant in Iraq -- unlike before the war. Through all this mess, the administration continues to extend exective powers because of the continuing national emergency. In the meantime, the media continues to "entertain" us with continuing stories about terrorist plans -- basically helping the terrorists by keeping us all terrorized.
